I wasn’t able to get below 160. My 24 hour fast didn’t do much this time. I was probably right yesterday when I said my Tuesday low was probably aided by some dehydration. I dropped a little bit today but I did not see the 159 which would signal the end of the diet. I think I probably gained some hydration back and then lost a little again with the fast.

Weight Statistics

Even though I didn’t see a 159 on my home scale I do think I might have dropped below 160 because around 9am, there were some stomach issues at work. I have no doubt I temporarily dropped below 160. A scene from Dumb & Dumber comes to mind. You know the scene. Ewwww!

I won’t see anything close to 160 tomorrow. I am sure I will have my normal 3 pound Thursday gain. 😛

I started out chowing down on lots of fruit for breakfast and it was fantastic. I had a banana, a couple of pears and a plum. Yum! Later in the afternoon I had another pear and an orange. That wouldn’t have been too bad if I had stopped there……

But I snapped at the office lunch and went a little crazy……

That was me running for the “Grazing Table” over and over and over. It was poboys with gumbo day. Yum, Yum and Ouch! I ate too much. I still need to train my brain to enjoy treats without having to be carted out of the office in a wheelbarrow.

The Verdict

All Hail Gail, Queen of weight loss!!!

She crushed us. She dropped another 2.5 in the final week. Not only did she win with the best percentage loss but she also took the total weight loss crown too. She dropped 19.6 pounds and yes I was able to hold onto second place with a drop of 18.6 pounds since January. Mr. National Guard realized he couldn’t win and snapped last night and gained 5 pounds today.

Ha!. I know not nice but with all his trash talk it was funny he went out with the biggest gain ever.  😀

Now that the competition is over, I can stop trash talking with him and give him some friendly tips and advice.

With the competition over, I broke one of my Cardinal Rules and celebrated with 800 poboys. You should never celebrate with food but the “Grazing Table” was loaded and the competition was over so I went……

Today’s Menu

Breakfast – Fruit Medley

Lunch – Caesar salad with 1/3 meatball poboy, 1/3 hot sausage poboy and 1/3 ham cheese and roast beef with gravy poboy.

Dinner – Broiled chicken with salad

Snack – More Fruit

My computer starts smoking and beeping when I try to add up all of the caloric information.

I will behave Thursday and Friday but Saturday will be bad. I will be lucky to get back to 160.5 by next Wednesday. Maybe with a few cheats under my belt I will be able to skip the Wednesday lunch (unless it is the seafood lunch). 😀

No Tip Today!

Happy Dieting, see you tomorrow

Weight Statistics

.8 from my final destination but tomorrow is free lunch Wednesday and I am going to lunch this weekend to make up for my delayed birthday celebration. I need to hit the number tomorrow or it might be a few weeks before I finally get below 160. 😛

I don’t think I have a chance of getting there tomorrow. I think I was a touch dehydrated today which led to the new low this morning. I feel a bounce up tomorrow even though I had a flawless day today.

I’m giving it my all to reach my final destination tomorrow. I had a larger than normal breakfast and a 24 hour fast. I won’t eat again until after the weigh-in tomorrow.

I am ready to bust out my Carlton dance to celebrate if I somehow hit 159.9!

Today’s Menu

Breakfast – 2 turkey burgers and cheese

Lunch – Nope

Dinner – Nope

Snack – Nope

Calories – 520

Nothing wrong with a 24 hour fast even though some of you think there is. 😛

Plus, I don’t really suggest fasting as a normal diet tool unless plateaued for a long time. I’m just hoping the fast helps push me under 160 so I can celebrate the end of the diet and the beginning of true maintenance.

Plus, I am trying to keep my lead on Mr. National Guard. The contest ends tomorrow and Gail will win. She really crushed me the last 3 weeks. Even though I have no chance to beat her, I don’t want to hear it from Mr. National Guard that he beat me. I need to have a good weigh-in tomorrow to stay ahead of him. He once again claims to have lost about 7 pounds this week. We shall see tomorrow. I am glad the competition is over.

Tip Of The Day

This is for those of you in the middle of the journey.

At some point we all run out of steam. That is why about 98.2% of people who diet, fail long-term. Yes, I just made that number up, but I am sure it is pretty close to the truth. Most people give up at some point.

Those pictures you took at the beginning of the diet are super important. You need to put them somewhere you can see them when you need that extra kick in the pants. You need to see your progress.  That can keep you moving in the right direction.

I really didn’t have many BEFORE pictures, but when I needed some extra motivation, I would climb into my jumbo super huge suit.

If you are just starting out, make sure you have plenty of before pictures. They will be an inspiration both to you and to other people who can track your progress and see what is possible. 😀

Weekend Update

After the 3 pound gain on Thursday, I was a bit worried I would have to add the final $5.00 to the competition pool. I really don’t want to be the worst loser in the last week of the competition. The weight hung around on Friday, dropped a little on Saturday and then a nice dip down this morning.

Weight Statistcs

I’m almost back to my all time low. I probably will not reach my goal before Wednesday, but I should be getting close. I might be able to get there by next weekend. I just have 1.9 pounds to drop. I am not trying to maintain my weight at 159. I just want to crack the 160 barrier and then I am done. I need to get down below 160 by next weekend so I can enjoy my birthday cheats.

My birthday was back on the 7th but I held off all celebrating until the end of the office competition which means I will be celebrating my birthday next weekend. 😀

Today’s Menu

Breakfast – Turkey burger with cheese

Lunch – Baked chicken

Dinner – Baked chicken with salad

Snack – Turkey burger with cheese

Calories – 1350

I’m a bit surprised by the number this morning because my calories have been high this weekend. 1750 on Friday and 2000 on Saturday. Good thing the car was dead because I was going to hit Taco Bell HARD!

Nice to have a pleasant surprise. I have 6 days to drop 1.9 pounds and be done with my two-year diet. I guess I won’t be able to enjoy the Wednesday lunch. I sure hope Cindy doesn’t order the seafood feast!

Ok. I am finally sick of turkey burgers. It took a while, but I am sick of them. I am sick of baked chicken or broiled chicken or chicken. Good thing I am near the end of the road for this diet because I am SICK SICK SICK of my current meal plan.

I can’t wait to add some carbs back into the mix.

I plan to add fruit and oatmeal back into the mix for breakfast and then beans and rice for a while for dinner. It will be interesting to see where my weight balances out when I add the carbs back.

Tip Of The Day!

Don’t let stress derail the diet!

Easier said than done. It is very easy to use food for comfort and to TEMPORARILY relieve stress.

And by temporarily, I mean for mere minutes. As soon as you are done eating, the stress is still going to be there and then you can add guilt to the list. 😛

Don’t do it. Find another way to relieve anxiety and stress.

Here is a link to a good article on stress relief. http://www.helpguide.org/mental/stress_management_relief_coping.htm

Don’t use food for comfort!!!

Happy Dieting, see you tomorrow

Taco Bell!

You will have to wait until tomorrow for the full weekend report but the only thing that stopped me from hitting Taco Bell this evening was that my car decided to DIE!!!

Now I am sick of my stomach. DO NOT GOOGLE “Dead Car.” Really! Don’t do it. You end up getting violent death photos!

That took care of my hunger problem.

See you tomorrow for the weekend report.

More Good News / Bad News

The good news is that I hit an all time low this morning of 161.7. Just 1.8 pounds from my final final final goal. Yay me!

Bad News Part 1

Gail lost 3 pounds this week.  She has won the contest. I crunched the numbers after her weigh-in and even if I fasted for a solid week, I still wouldn’t pass her. She really has been a dieting machine the last 3 weeks.  I dropped 1.2 from last week but I would have to lose 6 pounds to pass her weigh-in from this week and she will probably continue to shrink even more next week. I sent her a concession email  and told her what a fantastic job she had done mopping the floor with her competitors.

Bad New Part 2

I went downtown on the lunch today. I thought about it and there was simply no way I could catch Gail. Not if I starved. Not if I loaded up on Senna Tea and starved. Not if I starved while drinking senna tea and running a 7 day marathon….okay maybe a 7 day marathon might pull me out the win, but other than that, there simply was no way to catch her. So I conceded and went ballistic on the lunch today.

Today’s Menu

Breakfast – Nothing

Lunch – Veal Parmigiana, Chicken Parmigiana, Daube, Roast Beef Poboy, Ham Poboy, Italian Salad

Dinner – Orange, Pear, Salad

Calories – Roughly Eleventy Billion.

I wish there was a dessert. I have been craving something sweet and it is taking ALL of my willpower to keep from hitting the Winn Dixie for a tasty treat. `

I’ve really been cutting down on the sodium lately so I imagine the sodium spike plus the real fat gain will send the scale rocketing to the moon tomorrow…..

I really might spike up 5 pounds. It appears my goal of hitting 159 by next Wednesday is now out of the realm of the possible. I refuse to give up until I hit 159 but It might take another month because I have several cheats in the near future. The last weekend of March I will be celebrating my postponed birthday with lunch and dinner so It might be April before I hit my goal. Oh well. A few more weeks won’t kill me. 😛

Weight Statistics

Poor 161. Only lasted a few hours. I hope it doesn’t take me too long to get back but it might. 😛

Tip Of The Day

Don’t compound one mistake with another!

I was actually putting on some clothes to go buy ice cream when I regained control of my brain…..without the aid of my alien mind control helmet….

My brain used the old “well, you already slipped so you might as well get some ice cream to finish off the debacle” argument. Not a rational argument but one I am sure many of you are quite well versed in.

Don’t do it. Don’t make a small gain into a giant gain. Put the foot down on the brake before the car goes out of control…..

It is very easy for your diet to spin out of control so keep those cheats to one event. Don’t make the damage worse than it already is. 😛

Happy Dieting, see you tomorrow
