Work!

My diet sure took a beating the last 7 days because of work. Can I file a claim for injury to my diet. ๐Ÿ˜›

First we had the seafood feast last Wednesday, then Friday donuts, then the office crawfish boil, then sending me home from the crawfish boil with TONS of leftovers, then staying late at work and making bad dinner decisions because I didn’t have time to get to the store or the timeย  to cook healthy meals.

Very bad week. Not sure it could have been worse.

Maybe if a pie eating contest had been tossed in there somewhere that would be about the only thing that could have been worse.ย  Thursday was the only decent day in the last 7 days. The scale took a MASSIVE beating. I’ll probably be at work late tomorrow too. I won’t get to the store until Thursday night maybe Friday.

I’ll climb on the scale tomorrow morning. It will not be pretty.

That should give me the incentive to HIT THE BRAKES! I’ll make sure to get back on here tomorrow to post the GRIM details.

I went from having a solid week to a lousy one really fast.

I was down to 175.7 and then a little thing known as the Seafood Feast happened.

After a big pile of shrimp, catfish, hush puppies and crawfish pasta , the scale was not in a pleasant mood this morning. The ice cream didn’t help matters. ๐Ÿ˜›

I’m not upset about the feast. We only have the seafood feast about 3 times a year so there was no way I was going to pass it up. I didn’t eat too much with plate 1. The only mistake was getting an extra portion of pasta. I used to eat tons of pasta weekly. I’ve probably had it 6 times in the last 3 years so once again, I think I actually kept my old habits in check. I stopped even though I was still hungryย  or we ran out of food. ๐Ÿ˜›

Instead of the normal pint of ice cream, I grabbed a cone so I was bad but I toned it down slightly.

I did have a solid Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. I’m hoping I can keep my hands off the donuts tomorrow. By Saturday I should be at least somewhat close to my Tuesday low.

At most, I gained 1 real pound. The rest is nothing more than water. No way I gained 4 pounds from 1 plate of seafood and some ice cream. The rest is water weight and it should flush out by Saturday. In theory. Just in time for the crawfish boil on Saturday which will really spike my weight with a zillion mgs of sodium.

It is a holiday weekend coupled with the annual office crawfish boil so I probably will go a bit nuts on Saturday. Then back to work on Sunday.

At least I kept the damage to one day and got right back to work. My brain tried to convince me that some McDonald’s for breakfast would be a good way to start the morning. I fought off those carb cravings although it wasn’t easy.

Breakfast – Burger patty with cheese

Lunch – None

Dinner – Pork loin with salad

Snacks – Almonds

I think I have had my fill of burgers. I think it is time to switch things up. I’ve been hitting the same regular menu for probably a year. Not sure when I last had turkey burgers but it has been a long time. I think I will probably add the turkey back into the menu next time I hit the store. I don’t like the higher sodium with the turkey burgers but I’m too lazy to get fresh ground turkey and cook it. ๐Ÿ˜›

Weekend Review

I had a good weekend at the trough. Kept my calories around 1500 all weekend and didn’t really have any cookie monster urges.

My office crawfish boil is next weekend and I want to be able to go a little nuts so I need to have another solid week.

Even with the shrimp debacle last Monday, I’m down about 4 from last Sunday. Slowly getting back to my weight when the contest ended back at the end of March {171.3}. It is going to take a while to get back down to that number if I even try to get that far. I’m not to far from my goal but I do want to add a little buffer zone.

Ha! I need to get out of that mindset when I hit my number.

I thought I might be up today because we held Mother’s Day a week late and I went to lunch with Mom. I had a grilled shrimp Caesar but they used tons of anchovies which I don’t like so I didn’t eat the whole salad. Skipped the burgers and fries.

I was actually down this morning which almost NEVER happens after a visit to a restaurant. The salad was under dressed which I guess was good. It cut out some extra calories which probably helped me dip down a tiny bit today.ย  ๐Ÿ˜€

A little over 2 pounds to my long-term goal but 6 from my March 28th weight.ย  Probably 4 weeks from that weight if I chose to go that low.

Weekly Temptations

I might have another committee meeting tomorrow but I think it will probably be cancelled. I have a lunch & learn on Wednesday which isn’t bad because we already have the free lunch temptation so it doesn’t add additional temps. We have a vendor coming in on Thursday so that adds a lunch temp. This is my week to get the donuts on Friday so that will be a pain, but at least I know I will be able to eat what I want on Saturday if I behave all week.

Snacks – Almonds

It took forever for me to settle on them but almonds have been a perfect snack for me. The key to a good snack is the snack has to be something you like, but barely. ๐Ÿ˜›

If you like it too much, then you over eat it. If you don’t like it, then it does you no good. I can be tough finding a snack that is just right. Much harder than Goldilocks picking the best porridge. I tried almonds a long time ago but I bought the flavored almonds and those were too tasty! I couldn’t stick to the right portions. Same with the wasabi peas.ย  I did a decent job sticking to cheese sticks until I realized they tasted about 100 times better when melted. ๐Ÿ˜›

It really is tough finding the perfect snack but I think I finally found mine.

The Shrimp Won

The good news is that I dropped back under 180 down to 179.5 on Monday. The bad news is the shrimp won the day. I had no intention of eating any shrimp at the Lunch & Learn on Monday but the second the tray hit the conference table my hand grabbed a couple of poboys without any instruction from my brain.ย  Reminded me of poor Ash in Evil Dead II or Jonathan Lansdale in The Hand. ๐Ÿ˜›

I behaved the rest of the day and I was shocked that I was still just a click under 180 on Tuesday morning. I clocked in at 179.9.ย  I had a good Tuesday but the scale stayed about the same.

I think I will be back over 180 tomorrow. I didn’t have a terrible day with the Free Lunch but I also didn’t do a very good job. I had a chicken caesar but I also had some hot sausage on the side and I went back for more.ย  ๐Ÿ˜›

I was probably somewhere around 1750 calories for the day but the salt bomb from the sausage could push me up 2 pounds tomorrow.

The only good thing I did today was I stopped from going out for some ice cream. Around 8pm, while the angel on my shoulder was on the phone, the devil on my shoulder tried to convince me of the healthy effects of Ben & Jerry’s. I decided against the ice cream but it wasn’t easy.

I’ve got another bad lunch opportunity tomorrow. If I get anything it will be a salad.

Calories – 1750

Could have been worse. I skipped the white beans and rice. I bet if I had eaten those carbs, I would have ended up eating ice cream too. My brain just doesn’t handle carbs well.

At some point I need to get back to the stationary bike or even better, I need to get back to the levee. At some point. Ha! Grumpy Cat.

Lazy!

The good news is that I haven’t been hiding. I’ve just been a touch lazy. I was about to go to sleep but I thought I better post before TestingTrueChange hit me with a WHERE ARE YOU message. ๐Ÿ˜›

I had a good week last week. I avoided disaster Monday & Thursday when I skipped the Theo’s pizza.

I avoided the cakes on Birthday Day, also Thursday.

I skipped the poboys on Tuesday and Wednesday.

I skipped the donuts on Friday.

I did my part but the scale didn’t seem to care much about that. The scale hasn’t moved much in the right direction. ๐Ÿ˜›

That is actually down 3 from yesterday although the number yesterday was greatly inflated by the salt bomb rotisserie chicken I had Friday night. I knew the number yesterday was complete nonsense. I only had about 1600 calories Friday night so I knew the gain was 100% sodium bomb related. Glad it dropped off immediately.

About the same thing I had Saturday.ย  I felt the siren call for ice cream Saturday night but I was able to keep the cookie monster from taking control. Not sure if I will be able to block that side of my brain tomorrow.

We have a Monday lunch and learn and the great shrimp poboys are on the menu! We also have a Wednesday lunch and learn and I have a committee meeting on Thursday.ย  Boom!ย  Another week, another week of office temptations. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

I need to get back under 180 this week, so I need to be on my best behavior.ย  It would be nice to have back to back great weeks. It’s just going to take some serious willpower this week.ย  Cruel to start Monday off with fried shrimp!

I’d probably weigh 142 if it weren’t for the office temptations. You can see above, it isn’t easy to keep your weight in check at my office. ๐Ÿ˜€

My mom was out-of-town so we will be having our Mother’s Day lunch next week. I need to keep the mouth in check until the lunch next weekend.

Officeย  Contest Part II

We are thinking about having a summer version of the Biggest Loser competition. Doubtful, but a few people have kicked the idea around. I don’t really have enough weight to lose but that could change if I accidentally buy corn meal, flour, eggs and milk. ๐Ÿ˜›
