I too vaulted up the leader board. I actually had the biggest percentage drop for the week but it wasn’t enough to catch Gail. I dropped 4.6 for the week, but Gail dropped 2.2.  If she keeps up that pace, I’m toast because there is no way I can keep up the pace of 4.6. I gained some ground on her but not much. As usual she is going to be tough to beat. 

It appears more people are actually motivated and eating better and working out so anyone in the top 7 could make a move if The Queen Bee falters. Although a few people faltered today…..

We had ice cream and cake during the office Halloween Party. I abstained but sever of the contestants had cake. A couple of people had noticeably LARGE pieces. 😛

First I had to skip the leftover poboys from yesterday, then I had to skip the lunch we ordered for the committee meeting I was in, then I had to skip the above cake and finally, I had to skip another cake this evening. 😛

I was a bit hungry when I got home this evening so I grabbed a burger. I’m out of snacks I somewhat like. I’ve decided I’m not a big fan of the string cheese. It isn’t working for me. I might have to go back to the almonds.

Day 7!!!

Daily Loss – UP 2/10 of a pound!

Total Loss – 11 Pounds

I was using the wrong starting weight over and over the last several days so my total loss number wasn’t correct.  Even though I was up this morning, I am down a little more than I thought due to a math error.  I was a bit shocked with the move up this morning even though it was tiny. Once again the patter comes to fruition.

My lowest weight was Sunday. Even though I busted my a$$ and didn’t cheat.  Am I gaining calories through osmosis? Simply being near a cake, I am absorbing free-floating chocolate calories? 😛

Evidently, I need to have one heck of a weekend, since I can’t lose weight during the week.

The Bike

After 7 straight days of 10 miles a night,  I needed a break. I was all wore out and put up wet………..  

I not only rode 10 miles but I bumped the resistance up a notch for 10 minutes. As I said, no rest for the weary if I have any chance of catching The Bee.  I need to keep at it. Gail isn’t taking a break so neither am I.

Tough Night!

The Bike

I’m all worn out! Fell asleep at the computer when I got home. Phone woke me up. Got on the bike and after 2 minutes I wanted to give up. After 8, I was ready to call an ambulance. Held on for 43 minutes and 10 miles. No matter what the scale shows tomorrow. I am taking a night off. No Bike!

I was wrong. The free lunch was not going to be easy to resist today. Even though we had the poboys not to long ago, they made another appearance. Sabotage! Cheeseburger, hot sausage, hot roast beef, meatball and muffalettas.

I had salad with a coke zero. 😛

Lunch – Chef salad

Dinner – Tuna and salad

Snack – Chicken

Calories 1300

My brain almost convinced me to peel off the meat on a few hot sausage and cheeseburger poboys. Disaster averted. The sodium would have spiked me at least a pound tomorrow.

The Contest

Everyone seemed confident in big numbers tomorrow. We shall see. I think Mr. National Guard is going to get the penalty again this week. He had about 10 poboys. 😛

Finally. The darn scale moved in the right direction. I was about to get mental!

I need the scale to keep moving down and down fast. Tune in tomorrow or maybe Friday for the results of week 2!

What The?

angry martianUp again. Not very much but two up days in a row and I am up 1/2 a pound from my Sunday weight.

I’ve noticed the pattern over and over again. This is the 3rd Office Competition and it seems my Sunday weight is more often than not, my lowest number. No matter how flawless I am, I tend to gain a little weight as the week goes on.

I consulted Beaker up there and he let me in on the secret. SLEEP. I get plenty of rest on the weekends and I get about 5 to 6 hours a night on week nights. Evidently less sleep means water retention and less weight loss. Just a theory but on circumstantial evidence it look pretty legit.

On Sunday, it looked like I would easily post a better number in the second week than I did in the first. That isn’t going to happen.

Still Not Happy Part III!!!

The scale better move in the right direction tomorrow or I might be needing a new scale.

That is about what Gail had for lunch. She never cracks. She is a broccoli eating machine. However. Her broccoli may help her but it also helps me. I was not remotely hungry at lunch today because the whole building smelled like 15-year-old wet sneakers stinking in the hot sun thanks to Gail microwaving her broccoli for an hour. 😛

I do want to raise my calories a bit but not until after the Thursday weigh-in.

I won’t be tempted. Even though I could probably stick with Atkins with the meat, the salt would kill me for the weigh-in Thursday.

Once again I waited until the very last-minute. Heck, almost didn’t ride at all because I took a short nap. Could very easily have slept all night but I didn’t.

Hamstrung!

I was awfully sore this morning and into the afternoon. I’m surprised it took two weeks to show up. That soreness had the Cookie Monster portion of my brain telling me to take the night off. Relax. Maybe have some COOKIES!

I did procrastinate until the absolute last-minute so it may take a while for me to fall asleep tonight. I did pull off 10.55 miles with the sore hammies.

Since I am burning more calories than I thought, I probably need to squeeze some additional calories in at breakfast. Not sure what, but I need to add a few calories.

angry_faceI had good drops over the weekend so I was overdue for a nice phantom gain. Today was the day!

Daily Loss – Up 3/10 of a pound

Total Loss – 10.9 pounds

Not a terrible spike up, so I am not too upset. I will be tomorrow if the scale creeps up more or doesn’t start working back DOWN!

Mr. B was in first place and he said he was up 5 this morning after his anniversary weekend. He will drop that by the Thursday weigh-in but I doubt he will lose much more than that.

Kman was in third place last week and he claims he had a dismal weekend of eating everything in sight. We shall see. They could be playing head games with me. 😛

Weekend Update

Flawless. Not a single thing I can complain about. I kept the calories in check every day and I rode 10 miles a day. Perfect. Let’s just hope the scale continues to reflect that hard work.

Daily Loss – 1 pound

Total Loss – 11.2

I was pleasantly surprised by that drop this morning. I was actually expecting the scale to bounce up a bit. Now, I just need to hope the scale doesn’t move up the rest of the week. Last contest, there was a pattern with my lowest weight being on the weekend, then slowly creeping up the rest of the week. I don’t have time for that.

Solid eating day. The chicken is a nice change of pace. Love the burgers. Not a fan of the tuna.

The Bike

I was reading up on cardio and target heart rates and using the heart rate calculator to estimate calories burned. I came to the realization I was GROSSLY underestimating my calories burned. I mean not even close. I ride at about 15 miles an hour for 40 minutes and my heart rate is 140 to 160 for almost the whole trip.  If it averages about 140, then that would burn up 600 calories. Far more than the 200 I was estimating using the evidently garbage info from the bike.

Today, my plan was to ride the bike while watching the Saints game. I wanted to get the ride done as early as possible so I wouldn’t have any trouble getting to sleep tonight. Unfortunately, the plan didn’t materialize. I didn’t hit the bike until 6pm.

10.1 miles today. I was worn out by the time I hit 41 minutes. That was enough for the day. Hope I can get to sleep on time tonight.
