Thursday & Friday

Jumping straight to Friday for the moment, I was looking forward to my day off and not having to worry about donuts but at the last-minute yesterday I was asked to come in for a few hours.

Donuts all over the place and people telling me I needed to have a couple!

There really isn’t any room for cheating. A few people wanted to move the weigh-in to Thursday to add incentive to skip the free lunch so we had our first Thursday weigh-in yesterday. I had the second biggest loss of about 4 pounds since Monday.

Mr. B was down over 7 and he weighs less than me so he really kicked my tail.

Back To Work.....

The good news is that once he hits 180-185 he slows down. Not sure I can rely on that this time because he is training for a 5k corporate cup race. Lots of running could mean lots of weight dropping off. He does like to drink a few cocktails on the weekend and that usually ends up with a BIG meal down his throat. If he is able to keep his eating in check and keep up the running then he might move ahead of Gail as my biggest competition.

I didn’t eat breakfast until I weighed in at work. I hit the leftover sausage hard so I probably have some extra water I can get rid of if I could get down to my normal sodium level. Just haven’t been able to avoid the salt lately.

Friday

Breakfast – Turkey burger with cheese

Lunch – Chicken

Dinner – Turkey burger

Snacks – String cheese, turkey burger

Calories – 1750

Too high. 1500 should be max. I ate lunch too early. Then dinner too early so I was starved and had an extra turkey burger snack which is bad for calories and sodium levels. I need to behave the rest of the weekend.

The Stationary Bike

Good news on the bike front.

Thursday – 6.2 miles

Friday – 8.2 miles

I should be back to 10 miles a day by the end of the weekend if not tomorrow.

With only three weeks to go The Contest is now neck and neck. My mistakes last week cost me big. Now Rich thinks he can win so he will dig deep to pass me this week. I need to dig deeper. πŸ˜›

I’m still at the top with almost 10% gone. But Rich is right behind me. LE had a bad week and he was up over a pound. Jess used her “Free Pass” this week so she evidently had a bad week and didn’t weigh-in.Β  It looks like I have at least 2nd place locked up barring some disaster or miraculous finish by someone else.Β  I don’t want second.

I’ve been doing my fair share of trash talking for the last 9 weeks so I need to win or I am never going to hear the end of it. πŸ˜€

The scale had me a touch grumpy this morning! That evil number it 1.4 pounds higher than my Monday morning weight!

I was up even though I only had about 1350 calories yesterday. I did order a turkey Caesar salad during a lunch meeting. That probably hit me with a big pile of sodium which caused the water gain this morning.Β  Darn meetings!

March is going to be very tough. Along with the normal office distractions, I have two Lunch & Learns every week through the end of the month plus 2 committee meetings. Not to mention DONUT DAY! Plenty of opportunities for disaster. πŸ˜›

Oh, not to mention my birthday was yesterday. I put it on hold. I told everyone, no birthday celebration until after the contest. πŸ˜›

I’ve been cooking today. I ran out of everything so I needed to whip up a pork loin and some burgers. I hate cleaning so I cook big batches of food and then keep them in the fridge or freezer. Then microwave as needed.

Having food ready is one key tip to avoid making bad food choices. I get into trouble if I don’t have something ready to eat after work. My brain starts telling me that picking up some General Tso’s Chicken on the way home is the smart thing to do.

Ice Cream Incident!

After the Thursday debacle I killed myself on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and I was able to get all the way down to 177 which was a 1.4 pound loss from the low on Thursday morning.

Monday went fine until I got home from work and the cookie monster used hypnosis on me and took control of my brain and convinced me a little ice cream wouldn’t hurt. I fixed myself a small portion, then another and another and another.

Next thing I know, it is Tuesday morning and I was all the way back up to 179.1! πŸ˜›

2 cheats in one week. Not good! Nope not good at all. I don’t think anyone can pass me this week in the office contest but they can wipe out my lead. Not smart to cheat twice with only a little over 3 weeks to go.

I’m not sure what I will weigh tomorrow. I might not post any loss for the week. I don’t think I will post a gain, but with no loss Rich and LE will move much closer to my % loss.

The free lunch today was red beans and rice with sausage, hot sausage, baked chicken, buttered bread, salad and bread pudding. Oh and some deli sandwiches for a lunch and learn.

The Contest

I imagine the race will get super tight tomorrow. I expect Rich, LE and maybe even Jess to climb back into contention. I don’t think any of them can pass me tomorrow but all things are possible. I won’t be home until late tomorrow night so the results won’t be posted until some time Friday.

Day 11 of 90

I dropped to 190.1 on Saturday and held onto the same weight this morning. Not sure how that is even possible to hold onto the exact same weight. I was hoping to say goodbye to the 90s but I guess I have at least one more day before that happens. I hope I haven’t stumbled onto a plateau.

I don’t think this is a real plateau and I am expecting a drop tomorrow. OR ELSE!!! πŸ˜›

Today was the first day in almost 1 week that I felt somewhat decent. My nose appears to be on the mend. I was still a little bit stuffy but nothing like the last several days.Β  I would say I am about 85% today. AfterΒ  a good nights sleep, I am hoping to be feeling about 100% tomorrow.

Friday was easy but Saturday was rough. I was starving all day and night. My brain tried to convince me that ice cream was a perfectly acceptable weight loss tool. I fought off the urge by slowly eating an extra portion of almonds.

So far the almonds haven’t tempted me too much. I’ve had 2 portions a day since I bought the bag. Each portion has 180 calories and 100 mgs of sodium.

If I make it through the night without cheats, that will be 11 flawless days in a row. 79 to go! I can’t wait for the weigh-in this week to see who kept up the good work and who folded like a cheap suit. πŸ˜›

I need to keep the flawless streak going. I’ve got a nice calendar on my desk and I keep crossing the days off. It makes the diet slightly easier when I can see the start and end date and cross days off. 79 miserable days and then I should be back to where I want to be with a nice first prize award. πŸ˜€

Mardi Gras season will really start to heat up soon which means lots of King Cakes on the grazing table.

The old school King Cakes like the one above don’t tempt me much. Those are similar to a slightly sweet french bread with a colored sugar on top. The King Cakes that are like stuffed cinnamon rolls are the ones that will give me fits.

I would have a very tough time avoiding a blueberry cream cheese king cake. Very tough time indeed. πŸ˜›

Day 7!!!

That was the angry and frustrated look on my face when I stepped on the scale this morning. Five days at almost the same weight even though I have kept the calories 1350 or less.Β  One tenth of a pound in 5 days. I’m not sure what is going on. Usually when I restart, I drop 10 pounds or more in the first week.

I’m not happy with that scale. I need a good drop tomorrow or I might have to toss the thing off the balcony or into the trash.

I’m really not sure what is going on. I have tried to drop my sodium intake and I have chopped the calories. I don’t know if Sudafed can cause water retention. My allergies have been a nightmare for 3 weeks so I have been taking Sudafed. Not sure what else is keeping me from that initial first week Atkins WHOOSH.

The competition is going to be much harder than I thought. One of the contestants has dropped 10 pounds in the first week. He was sneaky and he loaded up on water before weighing. πŸ˜›

The morning started off with the first King Cake of the season. Last year, I only had 1 piece during the entire Mardi Gras season. This year, I don’t think I can have even one piece.Β  I have too much competition.Β  I’ve got to stick to 90 flawless days if I have any chance of winning the $375.0o first prize.

Today is Wednesday and that means it is Free Lunch Wednesday.

I was hoping for a really calorie filled free lunch to tempt the other contestants but we had one of the healthier lunches on the menu.Β  Baked chicken, green beans, rice, mashed potatoes, hamburger steak, salad and buttered bread. I avoided it all. I wasn’t the least bit tempted.Β  I should say I wasn’t tempted by lunch.

Evidently the receptionist stockpiled all of the Christmas food gifts. Instead of putting them all out at Christmas, she has been slowly feeding them too us. She dropped off those mixed pecans today which REALLY tempted me. She also stuck out a tin of chocolate chip cookies.

Tomorrow is the first week weigh-in. The person with the worst week, gets hit with a $5.00 penalty fee, FatAss! award.Β  I doubt I will have the worst week but who the heck knows. 3 of the contestants are claiming big drops already.Β  The first week won’t scare me too much. Everyone loses water weight the first week. The second and third week will show me who the main competition will be.
