What The?

angry martianUp again. Not very much but two up days in a row and I am up 1/2 a pound from my Sunday weight.

I’ve noticed the pattern over and over again. This is the 3rd Office Competition and it seems my Sunday weight is more often than not, my lowest number. No matter how flawless I am, I tend to gain a little weight as the week goes on.

I consulted Beaker up there and he let me in on the secret. SLEEP. I get plenty of rest on the weekends and I get about 5 to 6 hours a night on week nights. Evidently less sleep means water retention and less weight loss. Just a theory but on circumstantial evidence it look pretty legit.

Weight Statistics

Daily Loss – UP 2/10 of a pound!

Total Loss 10.7

On Sunday, it looked like I would easily post a better number in the second week than I did in the first. That isn’t going to happen.

Still Not Happy Part III!!!

The scale better move in the right direction tomorrow or I might be needing a new scale.

That is about what Gail had for lunch. She never cracks. She is a broccoli eating machine. However. Her broccoli may help her but it also helps me. I was not remotely hungry at lunch today because the whole building smelled like 15-year-old wet sneakers stinking in the hot sun thanks to Gail microwaving her broccoli for an hour. 😛

The Menu

Breakfast – Angus burger with cheese

Lunch – None

Dinner – Tuna salad

Snacks – Chicken, almonds

Calories – 1200

I do want to raise my calories a bit but not until after the Thursday weigh-in.

1453454047_angry_birds_lunch_box_xlargeFree lunch Wednesday is almost upon us. I am not worried. We’ve had all the tempting meals. Tomorrow will probably be hamburger steak or meatballs. I won’t be tempted. Even though I could probably stick with Atkins with the meat, the salt would kill me for the weigh-in Thursday.

The Bike

Once again I waited until the very last-minute. Heck, almost didn’t ride at all because I took a short nap. Could very easily have slept all night but I didn’t.

10 Miles!

Not What I Expected

fa00f-the-biggest-loser-pinoy-edition

I was up a tiny bit today as expected. However I was still Grumpy about it. Yes I had too much sodium but I also rode almost 9 miles and kept the calories low so a loss would have been nice.

Usually on weigh-in day, I skip all food and water until after the weigh-in. With almost 8 pounds down, I decided to prepare for next week by padding the stats a bit with breakfast. I had my normal breakfast and a 16 ounce glass of water, which means I only weighed in about 6 pounds lighter on the office scale. 😛

The Results

Mr. B – 4.12%

Gail – 3.96%

KMan  – 3.13%

Dawn – 2.93%

Richard  – 2.74%

Me!  – 2.72%

Cindy – 2.25%

Cap  – 2.17%

Color me shocked. Given the food I have seen the competition pounding down in the kitchen, I was more than a bit shocked by some of the numbers. I knew Gail would put up a good number. I had no idea even with padding that I would end up 6th.

The good news is that I would have been in 3rd if I had waited to eat breakfast but the same could possiby be said for everyone else. It is officially on! Mr National Guard was last and he get hit with the penalty fee. He celebrated by eating 2 pounds of leftovers from yesterday.

I’m really going to have to dig deep and step up my game. The good news is that I have been consistent all 3 contests. Dropped 6 pounds the first week. Same for Gail, she always loses 5. Richard dropped 10 last contest so he didn’t hit that number this time. Next week will give a better indication of who is in charge of the contest, but I am still a tad shocked given the snacking and chowing down that I have witnessed.

The Menu

Breakfast – Angus burger with cheese

Lunch – Chicken fajita meat with salad and guacamole and sour cream

Dinner – Last Turkey burger with cheese

Snacks – None

Calories – 1200

I was a bit grumpy after the weigh-in. I decided to grab some more Mexican but once again kept it pretty healthy.

The Bike

Don’t have time to procrastinate tonight. Walked in from work and hopped on the bike.

10 Miles! Boom!

All I got for tonight , I need to head out

The Feast!

My plate at the last Mexican Feast. Had multiple plates and followed that up with Mexican food for breakfast the next morning.

My plate today. A small amount of taco meat with a dollop of sour cream and guacamole on the side. LOTS of salad. No second plate. Victory.

Oh, did I mention they also had the quarterly birthday cakes. Those things were beastly. They looked insanely good when sliced. I held my ground and didn’t eat anything.

The Menu

Breakfast – Angus burger with cheese

Lunch – Taco meat, sour cream, guacamole and salad

Dinner – Turkey burgers with cheese and salad

Snacks – None

Calories – 1500

I’m sure the taco meat with jalapenos probably was LOADED with salt. I figure I’ve lost enough weight so I am not worried about a temporary water gain tomorrow. In fact padding my stats will make it easier to post a decent number next week. With that in mind I polished off two of the last three turkey burgers. Any gain tomorrow is just water and should be gone soon enough.

Weight Statistics

Scale

Daily Loss – 8/10 of a pound

Total Loss – 8 pounds

Good to see the scale moving down again but I was actually expecting a bit more than that. The scale is going to nail me a bit tomorrow with the big sodium spike today but it should be gone by Saturday as long as I am able to stay away from the giant pile of Mexican Feast leftovers.

The Bike

I’m procrastinating again. I’ve got a bit of a bike problem. I ride the bike and I am pretty exhausted when I am done, then two hours later my body sends a wave of energy to compensate for the ride and I am wide awake and can’t get to sleep. 😛

I already wake up around 5am and leave for work every day at 5:45. I don’t see how I can wake up earlier and get my ride in before work. I would have to wake up at 4:15!  I don’t see that happening although I might give it a shot.

Back. 8.8 miles. I probably would have continued but my mom called for the second time while I was on the bike and I didn’t want her thinking I was lying on the floor unconscious. 😛

The Office Competition

Tomorrow is the end of the first week. Not really a week. We started last Monday and then changed the official weigh day to Thursday. Tomorrow will be the first results so I can see who my main competition will be.

Mr. National guard appears to be eating everything in sight so I don’t think he will be tough to beat. Richard chowed down on the Mexican food and cake. I don’t think the competition has helped him find his mojo again. Still plenty of time to go, but he might not be as tough as he was last comp.

I am eager to see Gail’s weight. Looks like she will once again be my nemesis. I’m sure she had NOTHING from the free lunch other than lettuce and her normal broccoli. I guess we will find out if anyone new will step it up this time. With the competition only lasting 7 weeks, some people might give up before the thing even gets going. I need to collect the entry fees pronto before some people try to back out.

Mr. B is running but he eats a big pile on weekends. He had a business lunch today and went to town at a Mexican restaurant so the 7 pounds he had dropped last Thursday probably won’t hold and it certainly won’t be more than 7.  This weekend is his anniversary so I doubt he behaves all weekend.   Gail. She is going to be it. I’ll let you know how it went but probably not until Friday.

Happy Dieting, see you Friday,

Not Amused!

plateau iiWay too soon for me to be hitting a plateau. Heck, not even a plateau. The dang scale moved up a tiny bit this morning. I really wasn’t expecting that after 8.6 miles and 16.6 miles in 2 days. I also kept my calories low, so I wasn’t happy to see an uptick. Nope. Not happy at all. Especially aggravating because I won’t know how everyone else is doing until Thursday.

angry_wet_catI felt like that picture for most of the day.

The Menu

Breakfast – Turkey burger with cheese

Lunch – Hamburger with cheese

Dinner – Tuna with salad

Snacks – Turkey burger

Calories -1250

I decided that it wouldn’t be smart to run out of food. I could use that as an excuse to eat some of the Mexican Feast tomorrow. Off I went to Sam’s after leaving work. I decided to nix the Turkey burgers. I eat more than one too often and they simply have too much sodium. 700mgs. Bye bye TB.

I decided to go back to hamburgers but I switched brands. I was buying pre-formed raw burgers from the freezer section. Those things didn’t taste too good but it was less of a hassle than getting fresh meat, forming the patties and then storing them.

I noticed that a pre-cooked brand only had about 100mgs more sodium than the raw burgers so I grabbed a couple of boxes. Yum! I’m sure they would taste terrible to most people but after eating that other brand for 18 months, these taste like gourmet food and they are pre-cooked.  Less hassle. Less cleaning up.

Grabbed some chicken again to replace the pork. I think it will be a solid year before I ever show interest in a pork loin again. I needed something else, so I grabbed tuna fish. One can of tuna has slightly higher than 1/2 the sodium of the turkey burgers.  Even with the processed food the sodium intake will be well below 2000 mgs. Probably 1700 to 1800.

AngryRainCloudWeight Statistics

Daily Loss – ++++++++ 2/10 of a pound

Total Loss – 7.2 pounds

Not happy with a gain. Ain’t nobody got time for a gain! Gail is probably melting away. Mr. B said that he gained 5 pounds over the weekend after drinking plenty of booze, eating pizza and having 2 poboys.

Somehow he was back to his low this morning which puts him down 7 since the start. With his metabolism he might drop 2 more by Thursday. He is going to a basketball game Wednesday night so even if the Mexican Feast doesn’t get him tomorrow, beer and a hot dog probably will tomorrow night.

The Bike

I’m currently writing the blog to avoid riding the bike. Procrastinating! I imagine my legs are going to have much after back to back 8 mile rides. I’m hoping to make it 3 in a row but not sure I have it in me. My stomach was bugging me a bit earlier but it seems to have settled down for the moment.

I’m back. I was able to hit 8.8. A good day. Would have  been better if the scale had moved in the RIGHT DIRECTION!

Happy Dieting, see you tomorrow after the MEXICAN FEAST!

That was my plate at the last Feast! 😛

Slowed Down!

Day 7!!!

I knew the scale would eventually slow down to a normal pace but I still wasn’t happy to see the tiny loss this morning after my nice 8 mile ride last night. I wanted to toss the scale in the trash.

For those who watch Parks & Rec, that gif is what Ron Swanson wants to do to NBC servers after the Powers That Be put the show on hiatus!

Daily Loss – .1!

Total Loss – 7.4 pounds

I need to keep up the pressure and I need to BEHAVE on Wednesday. I’ve been insanely busy the last couple of days so my plan of taking a half day Wednesday isn’t looking good at the moment. Going to have to break out the old school willpower but not sure where I lost it.

Mr. B claims he had a 5 pound gain over the weekend. Possible, because as I said last night, he likes to go out to dinner on the weekends. However, not to be to indelicate but I have seen him drop 5 from a morning weigh-in to an afternoon weigh-in. The employees at his waste disposal factory are on steroids.

The Menu

Breakfast – Hamburger with cheese

Lunch – None

Dinner – Chicken with salad

Snacks – String Cheese, Turkey burgers

Calories – 1400

We had a lunch seminar today but nothing remotely tempting to eat. I could have grabbed a salad but sometimes those things are almost as bad as a sandwich.

I’m just about out of supplies which is a bit of a predicament. I hate going to the store after work but I think I have 2 days left. Heck, if I can’t take Wednesday off, maybe I will take a 1/2 day Thursday and grab my groceries then. I still haven’t settled on the menu going forward other than String cheese. Same as usual, I don’t really like it or dislike it. The perfect snack with which I will not over indulge.

The Bike

Tough night. My legs were barking at me from last night. They were weak and wobbly. I didn’t pay any attention to them and kept chugging along for 8.6 miles, albeit a tad slower than last night.

Sorry for the almost medialess post. I’m too tired to think tonight.

Happy Dieting, see you tomorrow
