Unexpected Drop!

I wasn’t expecting a drop today because of the two tons of sodium I ate yesterday but even with all the sodium, I dropped two pounds. Maybe Atkins kicked in and flushed out some water weight. I’m hoping the drop sticks and I don’t get a bounce up tomorrow.

Weight Statistics

I’m not sure how much I trust the scale this morning. I think I might get hit with a gain tomorrow. I ate a little too much today and I am really hungry at the moment. I need a lock for my fridge and I need the through out the key. 😛

Yesterday’s Menu

Breakfast – Turkey burger with cheese

Lunch – Turkey burger with cheese

Dinner – Rotisserie chicken with salad

Snack – baked chicken, cheese sticks

Calories -1615

Biking – Nope

Net Calories – 1615

Calories are a bit high.  I want to be under 1500 at least until I get back to my pre-Thanksgiving weight.  I need to get some biking done but the cold weather has neutralized my motivation at the moment.

Those turkey burgers taste too darn good. I want to go mow another one down, but I’m all done with my calories for the day. 😛

Those things taste great! Not sure if they really taste great or if I am starving. 😀

Biking Update

I’m not sure what I am going to do now that the cold weather is probably here to stay until February. Last winter I stopped walking during the winter months and switched to crunches and push-ups.  I might do the same thing this winter but I am not sure at the moment.

My sister has one of these elliptical machines and her apartment isn’t too far from mine. I might switch to that for the winter. Only time will tell. It would be a hassle going over there several times a week. Maybe a couple of times a week and the rest I will do crunches and push-ups.

Tip Of The Day

Get In A Competition!

If your office does a Biggest Loser competition, then make sure you join in. I’ve been involved in about 4 competitions the last 20 months and they have all helped me lose weight.

I wasn’t as successful with the last one. Shonnie kicked my butt but….. I didn’t have much weight left to lose.

If you can’t get involved with a Biggest Loser competition, then find a weight loss buddy and start your own competition. It can really help out. Just ask Shonnie. She was stuck for several months but she crushed us in the Thanksgiving Competition. Heck, she was 20 pounds heavier than me when the competition started and now she has wasted away to the point she weighs 8 pounds less than me.  Wow!

Competition can really motivate you like nothing else. 😀

Happy Dieting, see you tomorrow

Brrrrrrrrrrr!

It might not be that cold down here in New Orleans, but it felt like it. 😛

Weight Statistics

323/173/165

I’ve dropped 2 of the 10 pounds gained on my T-Giving break. It is doubtful I will lose anything tomorrow. I had about a zillion mgs of sodium today. Heck, I might even gain weight from all that sodium. I’ve been nibbling on a rotisserie chicken from Walmart which has TONS of salt.

Yesterday’s Menu

Breakfast – Bacon

Lunch – Chicken with salad

Dinner – Turkey burger

Snack – Bacon, cheese sticks

Calories – 1000

Biking – 0

Net Calories – 1000

I love those rotisserie chickens but they are loaded with salt. I polished it off today so this will be the last HIGH sodium day for a while. In theory….. 😛

Biking Update

I didn’t get home until it was too late to ride a bike on Monday. The weather has turned cold which might keep me off the bike. I’m not sure what I am going to do once it really gets cold.

Maybe I need gear like the guy above. 😀

Tip Of The Day

What? I gave you 10 yesterday and you want another one today??? 😛

If you are doing everything correctly and still not losing weight or if you have mysterious weight gain, you might need to look at your sodium intake.

In the last 20 months, I’ve learned that I can gain or drop a pretty good amount of weight depending on my sodium intake.

On Atkins, I usually keep it around 1500 to 2500 mgs but sometimes I eat a lot more than that. Heck, the rotisserie chicken was about 1800. Couple that with a few Jenni-O turkey burgers and cheese and my sodium count was MUCH higher than normal today which could lead to a higher weight tomorrow even though I only ate 1300 calories.

Remember, if you are stalled or even mysteriously gaining weight, check out your sodium intake to see if too much sodium is causing the problem..

Back On Track…

I finally got back to the diet on Sunday and had my eating under control. I know some of the 10 pounds I gained had to be water and sure enough I dropped 1.5 this morning. I chowed down a TON of sodium with the dips and fast food trips which caused a big water spike.

I had a stressful Sunday and Monday. My brain did attempt to convince me of the inherent health benefits of a shrimp poboy but I was able to shrug that idea off.

My dad had some chest pains so he was in the hospital on Sunday and Monday. They didn’t find anything wrong so he was released this evening. 😀

Weight Statistics

323/173.5/165

It would be nice to drop a little more water tomorrow. 😀

Yesterday’s Menu

Breakfast – None

Lunch – Baked chicken with salad

Dinner – Baked chicken with salad

Snack – Bacon, cheese sticks

Calories – 1050

Biking – Nope

Net calories – 1050

I was out of everything so I hit up Walmart for a batch of Atkins food. Turkey burgers. Yum!

Jenni-O actually owes Biggest Loser some kudos for getting me to try those turkey burgers which I now like more than normal burgers.

Biking Update

It was rainy and cold Saturday and Sunday plus I had no chance on Sunday. By the time I got home from the hospital it was dark. I didn’t get out there today for about the same reason.

Tip Of The Day

Refresher Course!

1. Weigh yourself at least once a week to see if your plan is working.

2. Measure everything.

3.Read all labels.

4. Keep a food and weight journal. There is a link on the right to myfitnesspal.com. That is a great site to store all of your weight, exercise and food information.

5.Exercise but DO NOT GO OVERBOARD. Better to do NONE than to do too much and burn out.

6. Always have a list when grocery shopping and never shop hungry. You need to get in and out as quickly as possible.

7. Use small dinner plates. A full small plate can actually fool your brain. into thinking you are eating a nice big meal.

8. Find a place to vent anger and frustration and seek support.  Start your own blog or find a good weight loss forum. A forum is probably a better place to vent some steam and get good support.

9. When eating  out, steer your friends and family to healthy restaurants and make sure you try to find the menu online and pick the best option. Don’t touch the menu once at the restaurant. Stick to the choice you made at home.

10. Don’t take yourself too seriously. 😀

There will be plenty of ups and downs. The key is getting back up after each time you fall down. 😀

Brushing Off The Dirt

Eek! It took a few days longer than I expected to get back to the diet. I stumbled a bit from Thursday through Saturday so I have more dirt to brush off than Pig Pen.

I did finally get back to the diet but some SERIOUS damage was done. Hopefully a bunch of it is water weight.

Weight Statistics

323/175/165

Ouch! 10 pounds in 3 days. I imagine a chunk of that is water weight from the sodium but I did eat a lot so this time, a bunch of that is real weight gain.

Short post tonight.  I’m  a bit tired . It is Sunday which lately for some odd reason has meant family crisis day and today crisis mode kicked in again.

Yesterday’s Menu

A billion calories.

Biking Update

Cold and rainy!

Tip Of The Day

At some point you need to just wipe the slate clean and start over. 😀

Today was a nice start over point for me. I hit 175 which is my panic mode weight. Hitting that weight made me finally take charge again.

I didn’t do a very good job of keeping the celebration to Thursday….Friday…….Saturday….. 😛

Do as I say, not as I do. 😀

Oh well, back to work.

Congratulations to those of you who avoided the binge and to the rest of you get back to work. 😀

Happy Dieting, see you tomorrow

The Grumpy Man

Mulligan?

Can I take a Mulligan?

After two days of eating, I need to seize back control of my brain from the evil cookie monster  who took control for Thursday and Friday.

Too much food!

First off, I woke up Thursday hoping to be closer to my low weight number but instead of losing weight from Wednesday to Thursday, I gained weight. 😛

Thursday Weigh-In – 165.5

Thursday’s Menu

Breakfast – Cinnamon rolls.

Appetizer – LOTS & LOTS of spinach dip with chips. I mean it. LOTS!

Lunch – Turkey, cornbread dressing, stuffed mirliton, candied yams, green beans and rolls.

Dinner – Turkey and cornbread stuffing

Dessert – Giant piece of apple pie and a piece of pumpkin pie

Friday Weigh-In – 172.7

172.7!!! Wow! I gained 7 pounds on Thursday!!! 😛

I ate so much I was actually in pain most of Thursday night. I may have lost 150+ pounds but I still have a fat brain that wants to eat more than my body can take. I need to work on that.

I broke one of my key rules but I knew I was going to break it. Do as I say, not as I do. 😛

I carried the festivities over to Friday for the BIG BIG BIG LSU game against Arkansas.

After a shaky start which made them fall down 14-0, those Tigers roared to life and crushed Arkansas 41-17! 😀

One last game to take the SEC Title and then off to the Mythical National Championship.

Friday’s Menu

Breakfast – None

Lunch – Spinach dip and chips, Popeye’s 😀

Dinner – Baked chicken with rice, ICE CREAM

Back to back SUPER HIGH calorie days with no exercise. My brain has been working overtime to get me to hit one more fast food place before heading back to sanity so I thought it best to head here and force myself back to reality.

Saturday Weigh-In – 172

Hopefully typing all of this will get me back in gear.

Biking Update

Biking? Heck, I needed to be placed in a wheelbarrow and pushed around after eating all that food. No way I could ride a bike on Thursday or Friday.

Tip Of The Day

When it comes to holiday celebrations, the most important thing to do is get back to work. It is very easy to let one thing lead to another and the next thing you know the diet is over.

Even after all this time, I am still having to fight the urge to carry over the celebration for the whole weekend.

I know the dangers of continuing the celebration for several days past the main event.

Thanksgiving is over. Get back to work. 😀

Happy Dieting, see  you tomorrow
