The good news…..

Is that I dropped to 164.7 on the home scale and 167.2 at work which was about a 1.5 pound loss at work.

The bad news is that I couldn’t keep away from the free lunch and then later in the afternoon some popcorn.

Gail has been on vacation all week so I don’t know how she is doing. Her daughter gets married on Saturday so she will be BLOWING up the diet this weekend.  Unless Gail had a horrible week, she is probably still in first but I won’t know if she takes the whole week off. Next week, it will be interesting to see how much Gail gains with the wedding.

Mr. National Guard had a tough week and gained a slight bit so he dropped from second to third. My old nemesis attacked him…..

He loaded up on Taco Bell, Monday night. That really doesn’t look appetizing. I would still destroy some Taco Bell if not for the competition. It has been over two months since my last Taco Bell disaster.

I’m sure I will be up tomorrow but it WILL NOT BE 4 or 5 pounds like the last several weeks. The lunch was baked chicken and hamburger steak. My calorie count wasn’t horrible but the sodium bug will hit me tomorrow.

Today’s Menu

Breakfast – None

Lunch – Baked chicken breast, small hamburger steak and salad

Dinner – Baked chicken with salad

Snack – Cheese stick

Calories -1600

Oh yeah! Rant time.

I ordered a case for my new nook tablet. It was in stock and supposed to ship on Monday. Tuesday morning I get an email telling me it is out of stock and should be shipped by March 5th. I try to cancel the order but items that are SUPPOSED to ship in 2 days can’t be cancelled. Huh! Even if they run out of stock and can’t be shipped, they still can’t be cancelled or so I was told by Barnes & Noble.

I checked my email a little while ago and I had an email from Barnes & Noble. They somehow were able to cancel the order. Oh, they also sent an email confirming that they had shipped the order and gave me a tracking number. What the???

Is it cancelled or on the way? The tracking number doesn’t show anything at the moment but that is normal for an item that has just been shipped. I guess you will have to wait to see what happens next. Oh, the guy that told me the order couldn’t be cancelled, told me he would switch the shipping to next day. The email with the tracking number shows it was shipped standard.  😛

Fantastic  job so far B&N!

I do love the nook tablet. If you are an avid reader, you need to get a tablet NOW! Just might want to think about Amazon over B&N. If I get my nook case in the PROMISED time, I might rethink that.

Tip Of The Day!

You MUST MUST MUST track you calories.

A coworker is doing the 17 day diet but she isn’t tracking her calories, carbs or food in any way known to man. I’ve tried to encourage her to track her food. She might be eating way too many carbs or calories for the diet to work but there is no way to know for sure because she isn’t tracking her calorie or carb count.

Keep a food journal. I use myfitnesspal.com. Great little site. I wish I had been using it the whole time. Unfortunately, I have over a year of data on a site I can no longer access. I think they run their server on an old Atari 2600.

Tracking your calories is very important and if you are on a low carb diet, of course you need to count carbs.

Start a food journal!

Happy Dieting, see you tomorrow

Here We Go Again!

Every week, I think I am having a good week and then I have a phantom increase which makes me feel just like Charlie Brown when Lucy pulls the ball away. Aaugh, indeed!

I was expecting to break under 165 today. Instead, I sit here at 166. 166! I only had about 1250 calories yesterday and I gained half a pound.

That weight bump up really has me in a foul temper this morning.

Tip Of The Day!

Don’t use the irrational logic that “you might as well eat what you want” because the scale is moving in the wrong direction even though you are doing everything right. You will have these thoughts from time to time and you need to toss them out with the trash.

My sodium experiment could have caused a shift although I don’t think that is it because I’ve been eating a portion of jalapenos for about 5 days now. I did have a pile of coffee yesterday. Maybe all of the splenda (1 carb), plus the popcorn, plus my normal carb intake was too much and I bumped out of Ketosis. Doubtful.

I guess after shifting 5 pounds of water off, my body decided to hang onto some extra water yesterday.

Think about your weight gain rationally (not always possible) and try to analyze why you gained weight. Don’t just wave your fist at God and then dive head first into the nearest cake. Sometimes, there really won’t be an apparent reason for the gain. Your body just hangs on to extra water from time to time.

Today’s Menu

Breakfast – Turkey burger with cheese

Lunch – NOTHING – I need to keep my hands away from the popcorn!

Dinner – Baked chicken with salad

Snack – None

Calories – Under 1200

I need to stick to that menu plan today. It is crunch time. If the weigh-in was today, Gail would kick my butt!

See you tomorrow, Happy Dieting

Tough Day!

I was hungry all day today.  I had to dip into the 3pm popcorn to keep from jumping out the window and running over to Popeye’s. It was tough not to demolish the few remaining finger sandwiches from last week.

I had to flee the kitchen at lunch because several people had BBQ and some had Popeye’s and I started wondering how mad they would be if I stole their food and ran. 😛

Weight Statistics

Just two pounds from my all time low.

Mr. National guard was a bit upset with his weekend so maybe he won’t drop any this week. He did lose a key element of motivation. He was worried about maintaining his weight and tape measurements  for when he heads off to training school but they sent him something that said he would be given 6 months to meet the standards if he failed the weight and measurements at orientation.  He will keep running but his motivation to stop eating won’t be there.

I’m sure Gail will bounce back strong after gaining a tiny bit last week.

I’m only down 1 but of course I jumped up 4 last week so I am down about 5 from my peak last week. If I can just avoid the darn lunch this week, I might be able to pick up some ground.

Problem is my stomach keeps yelling at me. It keeps screaming “feed me” like the plant from Little Shop Of Horrors.

Feed me! I’m hoping I will be able to keep away from the kitchen on Friday. My guess is the lunch won’t be that bad this week. I think it will probably be the baked chicken/red beans and sausage meal.

I’ll still need to keep away from it, because the sodium would still maul me.

Today’s Menu

Breakfast – Turkey burger with cheese

Lunch – Popcorn

Dinner – Baked chicken with salad

Snack – Turkey burger with cheese, pepper jack stick

Calories – 1250

Not sure why I was so hungry today. I had a bit of a late night snack last night so my calories were higher than what I put in the last blog.

Experiment

I’ve been increasing my sodium a little bit. I added pickled jalapenos back into the diet. I want to see if adding a little extra sodium will keep me from fluctuating wildly. Or that is the excuse my brain came up with when my hand put the giant jug of peppers in my shopping cart. 😛

Tip Of The Day!

Before / After

Make sure you take plenty of before and after pictures. They are fantastic motivation for you and for people out there who need to see dramatic change is possible. I’ve got some shots in the About Me section. I need to add some new pictures because I’ve dropped another 20 since the last pictures. I can’t wear those jorts anymore, they are too big… oh and all my online friends mocked me for wearing jorts. 😀

Happy Dieting, see you tomorrow

Behave!

I’ve had a decent weekend so far. I just need to get through 3 more days without cheating and I should be down this week. I’m once again praying the Sunday low pattern doesn’t  rear its ugly head again. I really need to behave.

3 pounds from my all time low. It would be nice to hit that low again. I need to remain in 100% Full Hermit Mode until my Birthday on the 7th.

Today’s Menu

Breakfast – Turkey burger with cheese

Lunch – Baked chicken with salad

Dinner – Baked chicken with salad

Snack – Pepper Jack

Calories – 1250

I need to avoid the Wednesday lunch this week no matter what.

No poboys for me this week. 😀

I know I said it last week, but I am NOT going to touch any office food this week. Nope. We are down to the nitty-gritty in the office contest. A little over 4 weeks to go and I am going to bring my “A” game.  The hard part will be navigating my birthday

I need to put on my war face for the rest of the competition.

Tip Of The Day!

Atkins isn’t for everyone. Personally,I think it should be but 50 years of the government propaganda about fat being the Absolute Evil keeps many people from being willing to give it a try. Plus, to get the full benefit of Atkins, you have to strictly adhere to the diet. If you eat too many carbs along with all of that fat, then of course your blood work and health indicators will change for the worse.

I don’t push Atkins, because each of you needs to find a diet that works best for you. You need to find the right group of foods that you can stick to until you reach your goal. In my case, I found Atkins to be the easiest diet to stick to long-term. I still cheat from time to time, but I have been pretty good about sticking around induction. You are really only supposed to stay in induction for about 6 months but I have been in an out so many time, I have no idea how long I have been on it.

You need to find a diet with a LIMITED number of calories that is somewhat satisfying enough that you can stick with it, without feeling miserable. If you are miserable, then there isn’t a high probability your diet will be a success. I spent most of my diet around 1200 calories, which is pretty low but most of you should be eating no more than 1500 to 1700 if you want to actually lose weight in a reasonable time frame.  That number can shift up or down depending on how much exercise you do.

Find a diet you can stick to and don’t pay attention when the knuckleheads tell you that you are doing it all wrong. Well, unless you are on the junk food diet. That is wrong. 😛

Zzzzzzzz

I bought a Nook Tablet last night and I don’t have time to do anything but read. 😛

I need to get back to Stranger in a Strange Land, but I will give you a few small tidbits.

Weight Statistics

323/167.7/159

I was hoping I would drop a little more.

Today’s Menu

Breakfast – Turkey burger with cheese

Lunch – Hamburger patty with cheese and onions

Dinner – Baked chicken with salad

Snack – Turkey burger with cheese

Calories – 1850

A little high but I did pretty good at my dad’s house. I ate a bunless burger.  My dinner plans fell apart so I didn’t have any outside temptations but the extra turkey burger didn’t help. 😛

Biking Update

I promised myself I would get out this weekend, but the weather continues to be colder than expected. The good news is that next weekend should be MUCH warmer. No excuses next weekend.

Odd Weight Loss Info

Comfortable temperatures.  They change. I am no longer wearing 150 pounds of insulation and it really has changed my comfort level. I used to always be hot. Now I am ALWAYS freezing. My office at work is planted on 72 and the vent NEVER stops blowing Arctic winds at me to keep the office at 72.

I guess I won’t get nearly as hot during the summer but I’ll be the only one wearing a jacket at the office. 😛

Tip Of the Day!

Eat less move more. 😛

I told you I wanted to get back to my book. 😀

Happy Dieting, see yo tomorrow
