One Bad Day!

The ham sandwich on Tuesday did no real damage. In fact I dropped a little bit on Wednesday morning. All in preparation for the debacle on Wednesday. The free lunch was various poboys (meatball, cheeseburger with grilled onions, hot roast beef and gravy, muffaletta) as I thought it would be. I didn’t even hesitate a second. When lunch was announced I ran up to the kitchen like a wildebeest stampede was behind me.

My first trip to the kitchen was not too bad. Just one piece of a poboy and lots of salad. However, my second and third trips were not very diet friendly. On top of the poboys, I broke down and grabbed a sugary drink. I’ve cheated MANY time over the last two plus years BUT….. I’ve only had 2 cokes. I guess I can say I have made at least one permanent life change and that is I no longer WASTE my calories on sugar bomb sodas.

Having said that I grabbed a Minute Maid Pink Lemonade to go with my 3rd trip to the poboys. 360 worthless calories. I learned something from that drink and it is I don’t need to do that again. I like the Crystal lite lemonade just as much as that Minute Maid calorie bomb.  Crystal Lite would have been about 30 calories instead of 360 and I would have enjoyed it just as much. So yeah, I wobble on most bad food choices but I think my days of killing 2 liters of coke are gone FOREVER.

You would think the 3 trips to the kitchen would have been enough for the day but alas no.

I was late getting home so I used that as an excuse to pick some food up on the way home. I went with the HEALTHY

Chinese option. 😛

The lady behind the counter immediately asked me if I wanted my regular order. Once again Kudos to the lady for remembering me and my order.  Good service is always welcome and this lady had it nailed. By the time I finished dinner I could barely move. I felt an explosion was imminent.

I had another Webinar to host yesterday but I did a much better job. I  ordered a salad for lunch. I also had a salad for dinner and I passed on cake at a meeting.  With my good day yesterday, I was expecting a bigger drop this morning. I didn’t gain 5 real pounds in 1 day. Most of that has to be water (i hope).

I think I will see a bigger drop tomorrow as long as I have a good day. I’ve got healthy food cooking in the oven

as I type so I think I can make it today without a misstep. I need to have a great weekend because I know I am going to have a bad 4th of July with my annual hot dog festival. I used to eat hot dogs and chili all the time but now I have it about once a year on the 4th of July.  The 4th is on a Wednesday so it would have been a bad eating day anyway. 😛

It has been a long time since I really stuck with Atkins. I need to get back to LOW CARB. No ice cream. No Oatmeal. LOW CARB!!!

Accountability

You need to make yourself accountable for your actions on the diet journey. First off, you need to tell everyone you know about your diet. Then you need to keep a food journal and you need to log your weight. Posting on a site like this helps keep you accountable. When I post regularly, I make better eating decisions. When I stop posting, I make terrible choices. I need to get back to posting daily so I don’t have to hang my head in shame when I post. 😀

The Grumpy Man

Seminar – 1 Grumpy Man – 0

I did a great job during the seminar. I didn’t order anything for lunch BUT……. someone ordered a few extra sandwiches. I gave the sandwiches a hard stare during the seminar.

I figured I had that ham sandwich beat!. Over confidence got the better of me. When the seminar was over and I was cleaning up the room, there were still a few sandwiches left. Uh oh! 😛

The ham sandwich won. I have to give credit where credit is due. That was one tasty sandwich from HoneyBaked.

Lunch  – Honeybaked ham croissant

Dinner – Chicken with salad

Calories – 1450

Even with the sandwich my calories should be around 1500.  Heck, in my old days, I would have considered a ham sandwich with coffee a diet meal. 😛

I thought I had a reprieve from the Wednesday lunch. For the next 3 weeks they are renovating the kitchen. I figured that meant they would skip the free lunch.

Nope. I’m not sure how or where but they are still going to have the lunch tomorrow.

Then I thought I was safe on Thursday. The seminar is after lunch so no temptations there BUT…. now I am in on a specification committee meeting which takes place during lunch. 😛

I’m down again today. Even though the calories were only around 1500, the sodium bug might bite me tomorrow.

I’m hoping to make it through the office minefield with little to no damage. Tomorrow will be tough. I imagine with the kitchen out-of-order, the food is going to be easy to eat finger food. Probably poboys or fried chicken. 😛

You see that bench. If you sit there all day, you aren’t going to get anywhere. You have to get off the bench and onto the bus to get somewhere. Quit thinking about dieting. Quit thinking about losing weight. Just do it! 😛

Monday Not A Fun day!

I was busy from the second I got to work at 6:30am until the second I left at 5:30pm. I am worn out. 😛

Crikey! This week is going to be tough. I have a seminar to run tomorrow and then another one on Thursday plus the usual minefields of the Free Lunch on Wednesday and random Donuts. Hopefully, the seminar lunch orders won’t be tasty.Yup! Lets pray for some bland tasteless temptations on Tuesday and Thursday.

I was down a little more yesterday but I had a late Father’s Day with my dad which pushed me up a little this morning.

I cooked him some eggs, sausage, biscuits and hash browns with lots of onions and mushrooms. I’m sure my calories were close to 2000 yesterday. I ate lots of sausage and eggs but did a good job skipping the biscuits and hash browns. I ate way too much chicken for dinner. I was actually expecting a bigger number this morning although I could get a delayed reaction sodium hit tomorrow.

I think I am getting a little tired of chicken but I am not sure what else to eat. Fish is too much of a pain and the same can be said for beef. I might mix things up with a crock pot roast beef for a meal plan or two. I still have LOTS of chicken so it will be a long time before I head to the store again.

Tuesday – Wheels Came Off – Beignets , another cake , Popeye’s

Wednesday – Wheels Stayed Off – I was going to skip the Wednesday free lunch this week. BUT…. it was the seafood feast. This was just the 2nd time they have had the seafood feast in 6 months so I wasn’t in a skipping mood when lunch rolled around.

Thursday – I scream you scream we all scream for ice cream. Small victory avoiding poboys at the seminar.

Friday – Chicken Fajitas and Ice Cream

Saturday – I should be able to have a good day today. I am in full bunker mode and I am not leaving the apartment. 😛

Last week I got up to 178 on Saturday then down to 172 and now back to 178!  I guess my weight could be worse after 2 really bad weeks. Time to get back on the rails.

A new minefield has been added to the office. Now I am in charge of setting up the Lunch & Learn seminars so whenever we have a seminar, I will be inches away from temptation. 😛

My dad was out-of-town last week so we are doing Father’s Day breakfast tomorrow. I need to stay away from the hash browns and biscuits. 😛

Don’t run out of food!

Last Tuesday night, I didn’t have anything cooked and ready to go so I used that as an excuse to head over to Popeye’s.

Make sure you ALWAYS have plenty of snacks and meals all ready to go so you can’t use an excuse to head out for evil tasty vittles.  😛

I think I laughed until I almost died when watching poor Billy Barty being attacked by Goldie Hawn in Foul Play. 😛

Another big drop this morning. I wasn’t expecting it. That makes 6.5 pounds in 2 days. I really thought the gain from last week was solid but it appears most of it was water. Surprising given the 47 cheats.

Tough way to start a Monday morning.

There was a GIANT awesome looking cake hanging out screaming my name.

I gave the cake a good dose of the Aunt Esther stink-eye each time I passed the grazing table, but I did not give in. I don’t know where everyone was this morning. Usually a cake won’t last very long but that thing hung around until almost lunch time. I think I passed it about 15 times before someone finally polished off the last piece.

I did have some oatmeal this evening to satiate my sweet tooth. I’m going to try to skip the carbs tomorrow to get back into Ketosis. I think I’ve dropped all of the water weight and I’ll need to get back to Atkins to get back under 170.

I’m out of pork loin so I will be chowing down on chicken until I can get to Sam’s. I don’t see it happening tomorrow. Maybe Wednesday.

Tip Of The Day!

I’ve been slacking lately with the measuring cups and spoons which means my calories and sodium intake have probably been a little higher than my estimates.

Don’t be a slacker. Measure everything. Knowing your calorie count is super important on your weight loss journey.
