Beware Grazing!

TIP OF THE DAY

I’ve heard that eating just a handful or two of various snacks each time you pass the kitchen doesn’t hurt your diet.  😛

I wish!

I’ve been able to avoid the sweets on the “Free For All” table but today the salty snack got me.

Someone dropped off a tin of pecans. Some were unsalted, salted, covered in chocolate and covered in sugar.  I am defenseless against salty nuts. I did plenty of grazing today as I passed the kitchen.  Yum! They were great. I avoided the sugar ones, but the plain and salted got my attention.

Grazing is bad. Those calories add up. It is best to just avoid the grazing all together because once you take that first handful, you can’t stop.

No grazing!

I doubt I will lose anything tomorrow. That grazing will probably come back to haunt me. Just in time for the big Christmas lunch tomorrow.

This is a full blown holiday exemption. I’m going to eat whatever I want tomorrow. 😀

Today’s Menu

Breakfast – Turkey burgers with cheese

Lunch – None

Dinner – Baked chicken with salad

Snack – Turkey burger with cheese, GRAZING Pecans

Calories – 1600

I should have avoided the salted pecans. They might actually cause a gain tomorrow because of all that salt. 😛

Amazon.com and UPS have me Grumpy tonight. I ordered a gift card which I though would be mailed to my mailbox but I had a note on my door yesterday that they needed a signature.

I know this is probably the safest best way to mail gift cards but HOW THE HECK am I supposed to get it?

I don’t get home until after 6pm and If I tell them to leave it against the door someone will take it.

I can pick it up but the package center closes at 6pm! I raced there after work but a TRAIN kept me from getting there before closing time.  I think they are open on Saturday but only crazy people leave their homes and head out into the Christmas Eve traffic. 😀

That appears to be my only option so I am on full GrumpyCon1!

To get back into the Christmas spirit, I have loaded up Scrooged.

I still have a long list of movies and shows to watch before Christmas:

1.Rudolph

2.Year Without Santa Claus

3.Grinch

4.The one with Burgermesiter Meisterburger – I think it is Santa Claus Is Coming To Town.

5.Love Actually.

6.Bad Santa

7.It’s a Wonderful Life – I always watch this Xmas Eve.

8.A Christmas Story – I watch this off and on all day Christmas.

I’ve already watched Christmas Vacation, Charlie Brown Christmas, and Elf.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Happy Dieting, see you tomorrow

Tired Tuesday

I’m a bit worn out tonight so don’t expect much..  😛

I just cranked on ELF

to get in the holiday spirit.   Christmas traffic had me a little more than Grumpy by the time I got home but ELF should put me back in good spirits. 😀

I’ll be asleep about 3 minutes after Elf ends if not before it ends.

A half pound drop this morning. Not to shabby after dropping 4 pounds yesterday. I thought I might bounce up a little today so  a half pound drop is fine with me. 😀

It doesn’t look like I will get back to 165 before my next cheat or the one after that or the one after that. 😛

Today’s Menu

Breakfast = Turkey burgers with cheese

Lunch – none

Dinner – Baked chicken with salad

Snack – turkey burger with cheese

Calories – 1600

Yum. I wish those turkey burgers weren’t so tasty. 😛

Tip Of The Day

Try to limit the holiday damage. If you are going to cheat make sure you stick to the big events and don’t use the big events as an excuse just to go crazy from now until the new year.

I’ve got the office lunch on Thursday, then Christmas Eve and then Christmas day followed by New Year’s Eve. I need to make sure that the rest of the time, I make very good choices.

I might be able to behave on Thursday. I guess it depends on what menu they break out for the celebration.

Out of sight, out of mind. I avoided the kitchen today because people have been leaving candy on the free for all table. The donuts were looking extra tasty yesterday.

If you can, stay away from the areas at work laden with Christmas Food. I might need to take the roundabout way around the kitchen to keep the Christmas Goodies out of my line of sight.

I’m rambling a bit…. time to go to sleep.

Happy Dieting, see you tomorrow

Wild Fluctuations

Tip Of The Day

I don’t use much sodium on my own. In fact, I don’t really use any. I eat cheese which has plenty of sodium in it and I use Sriracha or Tabasco which has sodium but I typically hover around 1500 to 2500 mgs a day.  The RDA for sodium is 2500 mgs but most people eat a LOT more than that every day.  Older people and people with blood pressure issues are supposed to keep it around 1500 mgs which is VERY difficult unless ALL of your food is fresh. It is next to impossible to hit that number if you use any processed food.

Make sure you read labels to see how much sodium you are ingesting each day and try to cut back if possible. Sodium can cause your weight to bounce all over the place.

Processed food has insane levels of sodium  and don’t be fooled by soup commercials. Most soups are loaded with sodium. One can of soup can be more than 2500 mgs depending on the flavor.

High sodium cheats cause my weight to spike up then drop back down pretty quickly.

Case in point……

Weight Statistics

323/168.9/165

I dropped almost 4 pounds from Sunday morning to Monday morning. 😛

If that keeps up, I should be back to 165 just in time for my next Christmas cheat, as long as I keep my sodium under control for a few days.

Today’s Menu

Breakfast – Turkey burger with cheese

Lunch – Nope

Dinner – Chicken with salad

Snack – Cheese

Calories – 950

I still haven’t tried packing a lunch for work and I think I will probably wait until the next time I go shopping. I do plan to bring a wrap to work but I didn’t feel like doing it this week.

The calories were a little low today because I was out of everything. I did hit the store on the way home and I’ve cooked some extra turkey burgers and the chicken is baking as I type.

I might grab a piece of chicken when it is done which would push my calories up to 1250 to 1300.

Got to run….

Happy Dieting, see you tomorrow

I’m feeling like Violet

4 days of high sodium and high calorie food has me blown up like poor Violet.

The good news is that I didn’t eat a single bite at the Office Christmas Party. The bad news is that I was stuffed from polishing off the chicken wings. My plan was to toss out the leftover wings on Friday night but somehow they ended up in the fridge.

The end result of the last 4 days was a GIANT spike up  on the scale.

Weight Statistics

323/172.7/165

6,5 pounds up since Wednesday morning. 😛

Oh well, I had a good day today.

I hope the sodium gains start to drop off tomorrow but it is possible I creep up a little more before the scale starts moving back down.

Today’s Menu

Breakfast – Eggs with cheese

Lunch – Chicken with salad

Dinner – Chicken with salad

Snack – Cheese

Calories – 1350

I should be able to behave from now until Thursday at which point the Office Christmas Lunch will probably rock the boat.  From that point it will be a roller coaster ride to the new year. 😀

Danger! Danger Danger!

Tip Of The Day

Once you reach maintenance, you need to set a panic weight limit. Anything over or near that weight amount and you need to press the panic button and get back to work.

For me it is 175. No matter what, if I hit that weight, I immediately go back to Atkins and typically don’t stop until I get back to 165.

I don’t think I will hit the panic weight because I’m done with any cheats until Thursday. 😛

I doubt I will be able to get back to 165 before Thursday but I might behave on Thursday because I know I won’t behave on Christmas Eve or Christmas day.

Once you reach your goal, you need to keep weighing yourself and if you get near that panic weight, get back to work.  If you don’t, that weight can shoot up on you and catch you by surprise real fast.

Happy Dieting, see you tomorrow

Double Feature Friday Night

I’ve had a couple of bad diet days so I have gone into seclusion. 😛

I didn’t get home until late last night and I was too tired to post when I got home.

Office Lunch Wednesday turned into Office Lunch Thursday because there was tons of leftovers. I need to stay out of the office kitchen. 😛

Weight Statistics

323/167.1/165 (Thursday)

323/167.2/165 (Friday)

after two days of poboys, I was only up 1 pound this morning, but I had ANOTHER bad day today. I am going to do my best to behave at the office Christmas party tomorrow because the scale is going to be ugly tomorrow. I had some chicken wings that were one giant pile of salt. I think I could drink about 4 gallons of water at the moment.

Yesterday’s Menu

Breakfast – Turkey burger with cheese

Lunch – Meatball & hot sausage poboys

Dinner – Baked chicken with salad

Calories – 2500+

Today’s Menu

Breakfast – Chicken

Lunch – Baked chicken with salad

Dinner – Too Many fried chicken wings to count

Snack – Ice Cream

Calories -2500+

Meltdown mode. The last couple of days have been a mess. I am definitely headed to the store to load up on some better eating options for work. 😀

I need to have a good week before the Christmas feasting. 😛

Tip Of The Day

After a meltdown, you need to brush of that dirt and get back to work. You can’t beat yourself up too much because that will just lead to more eating after you depress yourself. Of course you also can’t let yourself completely off the hook. 😀

It is a fine line to walk.

The main thing is that you get back to work. I had some wings leftover and they are mashed up and in the trash.  Hopefully there will be a few healthy options at the Christmas party tomorrow night. If not, I will be drinking lots of water. 😀

The good news is there isn’t going to be an Office Lunch Wednesday next week. The bad news is that it has been moved to Thursday for the office Christmas Lunch. 😛

Brush off that dirt and get back to work. I feel like pigpen, but I will be back at it tomorrow. 😀

Happy Dieting, see you tomorrow
